The smell of pine in the summer, the sound of loons at night time, and the quietness that envelops the lake are just some of the experiences you will find here at Pine Needle Cottage. Bring the family to enjoy a bonfire, relax on the deck, and BBQ on the grill. Towering pines on the property set a tranquil and peaceful atmosphere.
Sleeping 6-7 adults comfortably and a couple of kids, this home has only 1 bathroom and 4 bedrooms. Pine Needle Cottage is located about 100ft. from the canal that leads to Clear Lake. You can not see the water from the home. Kitchen, balcony, family room, and washer/dryer are all present at this property.
This property is twelve miles from Rose City, twelve miles from St. Helen and twelve miles from West Branch.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Air Conditioning: No air conditioning. There is a ceiling fan in living area. There are a couple portable fans for guests to use.
ATV's: ATV/ORV are welcomed! There is enough room for a trailer/truck combo to park. Trail is approx. 1/2 mile away so you can ride right to the trail from the cottage! Please adhere to speed limit signs until you reach the trail.
Animals: Loons, Racoon, beaver, variety of birds, fox, snakes, squirrels.
Bathroom: On main level: Full Bathroom with shower.
Beach/Swimming: Half-mile, right next to the boat launch, there is a beach area for swimming on Clear Lake.

Boats: Feel free to bring you own small boat. Water level is low and it is a good distance to dock from boat launch just a half-mile away. There is also a sandbar by the private islands that you can anchor out and relax. You will see other boats there with their anchor set out. Please do NOT trespass onto the private islands!
Bugs: Typical Michigan bugs.
Cell phone service: Making phone calls and texting work good. T-Mobile seems to do well.

Dock-Canal: Private dock and water level is approximately 2 ft. deep (3 ft. max.). DNR Public Access Boat Launch is half-mile up the road. It is a small launch: boat and trailer will need to parked back at the property. You will need to keep your motor up as high as possible. It is a murky bottom. Be sure to walk along the edge of the canal (6 ft. easement). You will need to walk down to the access (which is 20ft. off the lot--right across dirt road), as opposed to walking through people's yards.
Drinking Water: It is well water. It is hard water. Some guests may choose to bring bottled water for drinking.
Drugs/Smoking/Fireworks: Freshwater does not permit illegal drugs of any kind on the property. Due to the location of the properties, smoking is strongly discouraged around the home and strictly prohibited in the home. Fireworks are prohibited at a Freshwater location for the safety of all persons in and around the property, even if it is legal in that city.
Fireplace: There is a fireplace-wood burning.
Fire-pit: There is a firepit for guests.
Fishing: Some common fish you will see in the nearby lake are walleye, pike, bluegill and it has an abundant source of small mouth bass (avg. 3lbs and up) . Please be sure to bring your own poles as there are none at this property. Also, in order to fish in Michigan lakes, one is required to hold a fishing license. Grocery/Restaurant Store: Half-mile (Walking distance) is a small grocery store, bar, restaurant (hand-dipped ice cream), gas and recreation fuel.
Internet: Yes. Internet is there for guests to us.
Lake: The dock is off of the canal that leads out to a Clear Lake. All-sports lake.
Linens: Yes, we provide your sheets and linens. Just like a hotel, the beds will be made for you upon arrival. If you are fussy about the thread count of your sheets, just let me know, and I'll make sure we leave a bed open for your sheets. We have just the basic sheets, pillows, pillow cases and bath towels.
Parking: There is enough parking for 4 cars at the property or 2 truck/boat trailer combinations.
Pets: Up to 2 Dogs are welcome under 15lbs. each. Freshwater Vacation Rentals currently charges $50/per pet for your entire stay. Yes, we do accept dogs, yet we do ask that you please clean up after them both inside and outside the cabin. Plus, if you allow them on the furniture, we do ask that you please bring your own linens/blankets for them to sleep on. Just let us know which bed you will be using with them, and we'll make sure it is ready for your sheets when you arrive. Plus, if the pet hair starts to build, we do ask that you please run the vacuum. Generally, dogs love the water and places to explore. Pet food does tend to attract mice, so vigilance is needed.
Privacy: You will see neighbors.
Seniors: Come one, come all! This space is great for those over 60. Sometimes when renting a home, you are never too sure about the terrain: is the home on top of a hill, is parking on a steep slope, are there 100 steps to the beach or the unit, etc. This home gets the FVR approval for the young at heart!
Snowmobiles: a person (resident and nonresident) that operates a snowmobile in Michigan is required to purchase a snowmobile trail permit. The trail permit enables snowmobilers to ride state-designated trails and thousands more miles of public roads and on public lands (where authorized). It is valid for one year, which begins Oct. 1 and ends Sept. 30 of the following year. State-designated trails are open Dec. 1-March 31 and grooming occurs when there is enough snow on the ground.
